First Aid

I was flipping through the New York Times magazine and read an article about crises. Crises disrupt the influence of special interest groups that wind up dominating any established system. With that disruption comes the capacity to realign the rules so that those groups do not dominate the system at the expense of the system as a whole.

This year I've taken a senior-ish position at my company and with great responsibility comes great drama. Most of the drama currently stems from one particular group that is dominating part of the system to the detriment of the whole. This imbalance of power could very well result in a crisis of minor proportions.

Now, this hypothetical crisis would not be significant to the business or the company, but it would be to the individuals involved and me as one of those individuals. However, is it better to wait for the crisis to happen and take advantage of the opportunity the crisis will offer, or should one try to avert the crisis altogether at the expense of beating one's head against a brick wall?

I'm considering the wall, but I don't think I have enough bandages.
